Message Notes

1. How can we bear “good fruit” in our consumption?

  • Matthew 12:33-37 (ESV)
    • 33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. 36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
  • Philippians 4:8
    • 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
  • Do a little research.
  • Ask if you’d watch this with your kids, your mom or a pastor.
  • Be willing to get up and leave (or turn it off).
  • Put checks and balances on your devices.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
    • 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

2. How do you struggle to keep your body a temple?

  • Ephesians 5:15-18
    • 15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
  • Proverbs 25:16
    • 16 If you have found honey, eat only enough for you, lest you have your fill of it and vomit it.

3. What one thing are you going to work on this week to help you live a more consecrated life?
